Gardening in Autunm
Autumn is one of the busiest times for gardeners, no matter where you live in Australia and especially for those who have been affected by floods, due to some of the wettest summer months we have ever seen. As the air starts to get cooler, the soil remains relatively warm in comparison. So there is still some quality time to plant and prepare for the cooler months to come. Here are some specific jobs that your customers might be doing in their gardens during autumn. We can provide ideal products to make any task a success.
- The Lawn : Throw & Grow Green Power Fertiliser
- Rejuvenate tired lawns with an Autumn feeding to prepare them for the onset of cool winter weather
- Fertlising lawns with Green Power will aid in moss control, discourage broadleaf weeds, discourage worms and harden the turf against disease. These benefits are a result of the iron sulphate component, which is found in most lawn fertilisers.
- The Vegetable Garden : Throw & Grow Titanic Organic Fertiliser
- Fill the veggie garden with capsicums, tomatoes, eggplants, silver beet, french beans, paw paws, passion fruit, cabbages, strawberries, chillies, carrots, melons and cucumbers. Upon planting give them an initial feed with Titanic Organic fertiliser and then feed them again at the end of Autumn to prepare them for the winter months.
- The Soil : Rocky Point Mulching Organic Garden Soil Improver, Premium Composted Cow Manure and Throw & Grow Pure manure
- When you add organic matter (Sugarcane Mulch, Pure Manure and Cow Manure) to your garden soil, you will attract earthworms, so there is no need to add more worms to your garden. The worms will add nutrients from their castings, and make tunnels throughout the soil.
- Dig compost, enriched soil and organic matter into soil
- Composting : Titanic Organic Fertiliser
- When adding large amounts of grass clippings to your compost bin/heap, speed up the break down by adding a few kilograms of Titanic Organic Fertiliser. This will increase the amount of microbial activity within your compost and give you functioning compost sooner.
- Fertilising- Throw & Grow Range and the Liquid Fertiliser Range
- Autumn is a great time to plant new plants or move existing plants. Use Growbetter’s Plant Starter to decrease transplant shock and improve the success of the new positioning.
- Fertilise native plants with half the recommended amount on the back of all of our Throw & Grow bags.
- Fertilise native plants with Growbetter’s Natural Natives, formulated specially for native plants.
- In preparation for the winter months, your garden will need insulation and cover. Put your ‘garden to bed’ by using any type of mulch, particularly Sugarcane and Lucerne Mulch. These two mulches have the best results for breaking down and supplying organic matter for your plants.
